Slowly picking up the pace again.
I’ve done a bunch of work but I can’t hardly show none of it. Problem is I made something for my girlfriend’s birthday but I can’t show it because I haven’t given it to her yet. Turns out her birthday was almost a week ago. I knew that but I didn’t have the time to finish the present and couldn’t afford a key replacement tool. But it turned out alright.
So here’s something else that just came up. It’ll be done with it later tonight when I’m tired of staring at a tablet screen. This is a mugshot (What can I say, they’re fun to draw). I didn’t get the guy’s facial expression at all but I really liked his cragged jowels. I also like not telling people what their crime is to see if they can figure it out. This one doesn’t have the expression and you can’t yet tell he’s wearing a dress and is 6’ feet tall.
Working on a cover for a chapbook that’s a collaboration with a good friend of mine, Dave Shook. The book is a collection of 2 of his poems and a bunch of my drawings. One of those poems is an older one with some of the first drawings I did as a project outside of school. The cover is a revision (the bottom one with tape) of a sketchbook drawing (the red one) and then there’ll be 2 new drawings as well, which I’m also working on.
AND. In addition to that. I’m also working on ANOTHER drawing for a broadside in conjunction with another of Dave’s poems.
This is all to be sold at the Jubilee coming up at the end of May.
Deadline’s coming up and I have to be quick about it. In addition to a comic, some storyboards, and another avatar. I went to get coffee this morning and it was a really nice day. No indication of that at my desk but I have a couple of meetings to take care of that are, thankfully, somewhere else for a bit.
Figure Drawing more regular now. Exquisite corpse cafe drawing with Laura Peters on the bottom right. There’s another one but I have other things to do even though it will only take me 15 minutes to scan and photoshop it together.
Next week I go to New York but in the meantime there’s a couple of projects I need to finish. And I need to do my taxes.
Also I began a couple separate ventures. One is threatening to turn into a tarot deck and the other is a therapeutic redo. I jump about drawings so I have 3 sketches going that’re threatening to be final drawings very soon. I’ve been lax on posting and I should make up for a week that’s either a bloop or will be periodically littered with quaint tourist photos and casual observations of a city that’s probably already overexposed in every nook by it’s own population already.
