…a couple of note pages for an electronic musician friend of mine that needs a “branding package” for his European tour. Logos, CD art, posters. That sort. Guy was born on Halloween so it’s going to have a Calaveras-y Day of the Dead feel to it. Bones, skulls, and the like.
I do almost all the initial 2/3 of the work in my sketchbook. I got hip to tracing paper and vellum (and tape) and it’s been a hoot ever since. Just like Photoshop. Sketch ‘n doodle for a bit, throw on some tracing paper and refine the drawing, and then do all the inking on other sheets till you get what you’re looking for.
I work out of an 11x17” sketchbook so scanning’s a bitch. I’m looking into a new scan/print station but until then it’s getting around to scanning and splicing and stitching and correcting many pages.
There’s a lot more I still have to put together in Photoshop. Might make for a leisurely weekend productive something.
Good God it’s great ol’ giddy Gibby!
Some great footage of early Butthole shows along with an interview with Jon Stewart about his punk rock roots. Flashbacks to a receding time.
Also with a nice nod to Oderus, of GWAR, who went either too soon or right when he was supposed to, depending on where you’re coming from.
